Lafc Vs Club America Match Preview

Los Angeles, CaliforniaLos Angeles Fútbol Club will face its first significant test of the 2025 Major League Soccer preseason when it hosts Club América at BMO Stadium on Tuesday night. The match serves as a benchmark for the Black & Gold as they look to bolster their trophy cabinet, according to head coach Steve Cherundolo.

This highly anticipated friendly pits two of the most prominent teams against each other. The match is scheduled for February 11 at 7:30 PM, with tickets currently on sale. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to ongoing fire relief and recovery efforts.

“This is a great opportunity for us to play against Club América in Los Angeles,” Cherundolo said at a press conference on Monday. “They are a strong team, well-coached and organized, with threats all over the field. It will be a great challenge for us, and I can’t envision a better exam to conclude our preseason as we head into the tournaments ahead.”

Cherundolo also expressed some concerns about the expected attendance, jokingly stating, “I wish there were more LAFC fans, but I can’t guarantee that.”

In other news, LAFC legend Carlos Vela will not participate in the match against Club América as negotiations over his contract with the club remain unresolved. Vela has not trained with his teammates while he continues discussions for a potential return this season.

“Regarding your question about Carlos, I understand he is in talks with the club, so I will let that communication continue between both parties,” Cherundolo responded to a query from AS USA Latino on Monday afternoon.

The uncertainty around Vela’s future adds another layer of intrigue to the matchup as fans hope for his return. While the intention remains for him to retire wearing the no. 10 jersey for the Black & Gold, it remains to be seen if a deal will be finalized between Vela and the club’s management.
