Lakers Aim for Seventh Straight Win Against Pelicans Tonight

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Lakers are on a six-game winning streak as they prepare to host the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena. At 38-21, the Lakers hold the second seed in the Western Conference and look to extend their impressive run against a struggling Pelicans squad.
The Lakers recently secured a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, despite missing key players Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura. Their recent success is attributed to a strong defensive performance that has ranked them among the league’s best in the past 20 games.
On the other hand, the Pelicans, with a record of 17-44, find themselves out of playoff contention. However, they have shown signs of improvement, winning five of their last seven games after a ten-game losing streak. Star forward Zion Williamson has been a critical factor in this resurgence, averaging 25.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game in his last six appearances.
Williamson returned from injury earlier this season, missing significant playing time in November and December due to calf and hamstring issues. Thankfully, he is listed as active ahead of Tuesday’s matchup. “Zion has the ability to change the game. When he is on, the team rallies around him,” said Pelicans coach Willie Green.
The Lakers, however, are well aware of Williamson’s capabilities. LeBron James, who is closing in on a historic milestone of 50,000 career points, leads Los Angeles with averages of 24.8 points, eight rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. James is focused on bolstering the Lakers’ winning streak, noting, “Every game is important for us right now. We want to keep this momentum going.”
In their last encounter on November 16, the Lakers narrowly defeated the Pelicans by five points. The Lakers aim to improve upon that performance and maintain their dominance, having won seven of their last nine matchups against New Orleans.
Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. CST, as fans eagerly anticipate yet another chance to see James and Williamson battle on the court. Streaming options are available on Spectrum SportsNet, allowing viewers to follow the action live.
