Lakers Set to Sign Free Agent Forward Drew Timme
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to sign free agent Drew Timme to a two-way contract, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. This move comes as the Lakers look to bolster their roster ahead of the upcoming NBA season.
Currently, the Lakers have three two-way spots filled by players. Siegel reports that Timme’s arrival means either rookie Manon or center Koloko will need to be released from the team. Timme previously enjoyed a notable collegiate career at Gonzaga, yet he went undrafted in 2023. He spent most of his early professional career in the G League.
In March 2025, Timme signed a two-year standard contract with the Brooklyn Nets after a standout season with their G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. He saw limited action with Brooklyn, averaging 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in nine games, with shooting percentages of .441 from the field and .257 from three-point range.
During the past preseason, the Nets chose to waive Timme despite having picked up their option worth $1,955,377. After being released, Timme joined the NBAGL’s South Bay Lakers, where he kicked off the 2025-26 season impressively. In four games this fall, he has averaged 28.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, showcasing his potential with shooting splits of .481/.240/.762.
Manon, a 23-year-old rookie from Vanderbilt, has made appearances mostly during garbage time but showed promise with the South Bay Lakers, leading the G League in steals per game. Koloko, 25, has also had limited opportunities but has delivered solid performances in the G League.
The Lakers hope that signing Timme will add depth to their frontcourt as they aim for a successful season.
