Lakers Timberwolves Game 2 April 2025

Minneapolis, MN – The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 85-94 in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series on April 21, 2025, tying the series at 1-1 after losing the opener on their home court.

Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists, showcasing his scoring ability while also facilitating plays for his teammates. Anthony Davis, although quiet early, contributed significantly by ending the game with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.

In the first quarter, Doncic scored 16 of the Lakers’ 28 points as they established an early lead. The Lakers’ defense was key, limiting the Timberwolves to just 15 points in the first quarter. Coach JJ Redick emphasized their defensive success post-game: “We focused on shutting down their options early. We knew if we allowed them to gain momentum, it could get out of hand.”

The Timberwolves, however, were able to respond in the second half. Anthony Edwards had a stellar performance, putting up 22 points while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 25 points to keep the game competitive. Edwards noted the team’s resilience, saying, “We came into this game ready to fight. We learned from our last game.”

Both teams faced challenges with missed shots and turnovers, with the Lakers committing 19 turnovers to the Timberwolves’ 11. The game became choppy in the second half, yet the Lakers managed to fend off a late surge from Minnesota, maintaining their lead.

Now the series shifts to Minnesota, where Game 3 is set for April 25, 2025. As the teams prepare for the crucial match, the Lakers will look to reclaim home-court advantage, while the Timberwolves aim to build on their home crowd energy.

“We’re ready for the challenge ahead,” Lakers Coach JJ Redick said. “Every playoff game is a new test, and we’re eager to tackle it.”
