Lakers Win Over Jazz; Ayton Out for Upcoming Game
Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a big win against the Utah Jazz, improving their season record to 12-4 and extending their winning streak to four games. They are set to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
However, the team will be without center Deandre Ayton, who has been ruled out after suffering a knee contusion in the first half of the game against the Jazz.
In response to Ayton’s injury, the Lakers announced they have recalled Bronny James and rookie Adou Thiero from their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. This move comes just hours before the upcoming matchup.
Bronny James, who was drafted No. 55 overall out of USC last year, has had a season filled with ups and downs in his rookie year. He has faced a cycle of being sent down to the G League and recalled, as the team works to find time for him to develop.
This season, James has had more opportunities with the Lakers compared to last year, but the return of Gabe Vincent and the overall health of his father, LeBron James, have pushed him down the roster. In two G League games this season, Bronny averages 11.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals, shooting 38.1% from the field and 23.1% from beyond the arc.
Maintaining offensive efficiency remains a challenge for Bronny, but he and Thiero are eager to make the most of their time in the G League as they develop their skills on a contending team.
