Lakshya Sen Aims for Bronze at Paris 2024 Olympics

Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen is all set to face Malaysia‘s Lee Zii Jia in a thrilling match for the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The match is scheduled for Monday at 6:00 PM IST and will be broadcast live in India.

Lakshya, currently ranked world No. 22, has had an impressive run so far, making it to the semi-finals as an unseeded player. He topped his group with victories, including a notable win over world No. 4 Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.

His journey included a commanding win against HS Prannoy, where he secured a straight game victory of 21-12, 21-6. The biggest challenge he faced was against Chou Tien-chen from Chinese Taipei, where Lakshya rallied back to win after losing the first game.

In the semi-finals, Lakshya went up against defending champion Victor Axelsen from Denmark, but despite a tough match, he lost 20-22, 14-21, yet he showcased remarkable fighting spirit.

Lee Zii Jia, ranked seventh in the world, also had ease in his group matches with comfortable wins. He made his way to the semi-finals after defeating Toma Junior Popov from France and Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, only to be defeated by Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand.

Interestingly, Lakshya holds a strong record against Lee, winning four out of their five encounters. Their last face-off was at the All England Championships, where Lakshya came from behind to clinch the victory.

The bronze medal match will be available for streaming on Jio Cinema and televised on Sports 18 Network in India. Lakshya’s previous victories against Lee certainly give him a boost going into the match, and he aims to make history with a medal for India.
