Lamar Jackson 2024 Mvp Award Celebration

One of the biggest questions of the 2024 NFL regular season has been answered. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has edged out Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, according to voting results released Friday.

Jackson received 30 first-place votes, while Allen garnered 18. The remaining two first-place votes went to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The MVP voting system awards 10 points for a first-place vote, five for second, three for third, two for fourth, and one for fifth. Jackson’s lead in first-place votes makes him the likely winner.

This marks Jackson’s second consecutive MVP award and his third in six seasons, solidifying his place among the NFL’s elite. Jackson led the Ravens to a 13-4 record this season, showcasing his dual-threat abilities with 3,678 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 1,203 rushing yards with 10 rushing touchdowns.

Allen, who had a strong case for the award, led the Bills to a 12-5 record, throwing for 4,407 yards and 38 touchdowns while adding 763 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. Despite his impressive stats, Allen fell short in the voting.

The MVP race was one of the closest in recent memory, with both quarterbacks delivering standout performances throughout the season. Jackson’s ability to elevate his team in critical moments, combined with his consistency, ultimately gave him the edge.

The official announcement of the MVP award will be made during the NFL Honors ceremony, scheduled for February 8, 2025, in Las Vegas.
