Lamar Jackson Wins PFF MVP for 2024 NFL Season
Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens has been named the Pro Football Focus (PFF) Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2024 NFL season, solidifying his status as one of the league’s most dynamic players. Jackson, who also won the PFF Dwight Stephenson Award and Offensive Player of the Year, led the league with 8.8 yards per pass attempt and averaged 6.6 yards per carry, outperforming his peers in both passing and rushing metrics.
Jackson’s 2024 season was marked by his exceptional dual-threat ability. He achieved a 94.0 PFF grade, the highest among quarterbacks, and his 3.67 touchdown-to-interception ratio ranked second in the league. Despite facing pressure on 37.8% of his dropbacks—tied for the 10th-highest rate among NFL quarterbacks—Jackson thrived, earning an 83.8 PFF grade under pressure, 5.7 points higher than the next-best quarterback.
The Ravens’ addition of Derrick Henry at running back further highlighted Jackson’s impact. Henry averaged a career-high 5.9 yards per carry, benefiting from the defensive attention Jackson commanded. Jackson’s ability to excel under pressure and his unmatched versatility made him the clear choice for MVP, according to PFF’s 28 senior analysts and contributors who voted on the award.
Jackson’s performance overshadowed strong seasons from other contenders, including Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, who delivered several standout games. Allen’s ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game kept him in the MVP conversation, but Jackson’s consistency and statistical dominance ultimately set him apart.
This marks Jackson’s second consecutive PFF MVP award and positions him as the favorite to win the Associated Press MVP award later this month. If successful, it would be his third MVP honor in six years, further cementing his legacy as one of the NFL’s all-time greats.
