Las Vegas Aces Home Opener

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 22, 2025) — The Las Vegas Aces aim to bounce back after a rocky start this season as they host the Washington Mystics in their highly anticipated home opener at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Friday night. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on ION and Vegas 34.

Before the game, Aces players Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd, A’ja Wilson, and Jackie Young will receive commemorative rings from USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley. This special presentation celebrates their contributions to Team USA’s Olympic gold medal victory in Paris last summer.

So far this season, the Aces hold a 1-1 record, having suffered a 92-78 loss to the New York Liberty in their opener before dominating the Connecticut Sun 87-62 on Tuesday. A'ja Wilson continues to shine, averaging 26.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. Young, Loyd, and Gray support the offense, averaging 16.0, 12.5, and 12.0 points respectively.

Despite the strong performance from their star players, the Aces have struggled with shooting, hitting 36.2% from the field and from the 3-point range. Kiah Stokes, who will be honored with a collectible pin given to the first 7,500 fans, contributes key rebounds averaging 7.0 per game.

The Mystics have shown improvement this season, starting with a 2-0 record before narrowly losing 76-74 to the Golden State Warriors. Washington’s offense is powered by Brittney Sykes, who is enjoying a breakout season with an average of 26.3 points per game.

Historically, the Aces lead the regular-season series against the Mystics 32-28 and have come out victorious in their last four meetings. They will face off again three more times this season.

After Friday’s match, the Aces will head to Seattle for a matchup against the Storm on Sunday, May 25, at 3 p.m.
