Las Vegas Raiders Tom Telesco Firing Announcement

The Las Vegas Raiders have fired General Manager Tom Telesco, marking a significant shakeup in the team’s front office. The decision, announced on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, comes just two days after the team parted ways with head coach Antonio Pierce. The Raiders are now searching for new leadership to steer the franchise forward.

Telesco’s dismissal follows a disappointing 4-13 season, which prompted owner Mark Davis to reevaluate the team’s direction. Telesco, who joined the Raiders in 2024, lasted just one season in the role. His departure signals a clean sweep of the team’s top decision-makers, as the Raiders aim to rebuild after years of instability.

“We appreciate [Telesco’s] efforts in helping build a foundation for the future,” the Raiders said in a statement. “We wish Tom and his family all the best.”

The timing of Telesco’s firing raised eyebrows, as he initially appeared to have survived the initial wave of post-season changes. However, after further deliberation, Davis opted to move on. Telesco’s tenure included a solid 2024 draft class, but it wasn’t enough to secure his position.

The Raiders’ coaching staff has also undergone significant turnover. Pierce, who served as interim head coach in 2023 before being named the permanent coach, was fired earlier in the week after just one full season. The team’s next head coach will be its fifth in five years, highlighting the franchise’s ongoing struggles to find stability.

With both the head coach and general manager positions now vacant, the Raiders are expected to pursue candidates who can work collaboratively or bring their own preferred personnel. The team’s recent struggles have left fans eager for a fresh start and a return to competitiveness in the NFL.
