The Laver Cup and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) have announced a five-year extension to their existing certification agreement. This renewed partnership, which initially began with Laver Cup 2019, both consolidates and enhances their collaboration.

The announcement coincides with the commencement of the seventh edition of the Laver Cup, held at Uber Arena in Berlin. The event continues to be a significant highlight in the tennis calendar, showcasing both veteran and emerging tennis stars in a team competition atmosphere that celebrates the sport.

The Laver Cup features a format where top European players face their counterparts from the rest of the world. As part of this renewed agreement, the Laver Cup will continue to benefit from ATP’s global reach, comprehensive marketing services, and operational support, which includes provision of officials and physiotherapists.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with the ATP,” expressed Tony Godsick, Chairman and CEO of TEAM8, the organization behind the Laver Cup. “Their recognition validates the Laver Cup vision, which is to unite top global players, celebrate the legendary Rod Laver, and expand interest in tennis globally.”

ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi remarked, “The Laver Cup has swiftly become a unique highlight of our season. The enthusiastic reception from both players and fans highlights its impact, and we recognize its potential to draw new fans worldwide.”

Roger Federer, one of the main architects of the Laver Cup, shared his excitement about the event’s future. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with the Laver Cup,” said Federer. “Recognition by the ATP was a significant milestone, and it’s thrilling to witness its global embrace by players and fans alike.”

This year’s event marks the final appearance of legendary Laver Cup captains Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, who have been integral to its success since the inaugural event in 2017 as captains of Team Europe and Team World, respectively.

Bjorn Borg remarked, “The Laver Cup has been a tremendous success, and being part of it from the outset has been an honor. The values of excellence, team focus, respect for opponents, and love for the game are evident throughout.”

John McEnroe added, “The Laver Cup’s achievements in a few years are remarkable. It epitomizes tennis through competition, passion, innovation, and sportsmanship. It’s been a joy leading Team World.”

Since its inception in 2017, the Laver Cup has established itself as a premier event in tennis. The extension of this partnership between the Laver Cup and the ATP reflects the event’s success and its role in enhancing tennis’s global appeal.
