League Of Legends Wasd Movement Controls

LOS ANGELES, CA – A recent leak may have unveiled a major shift in the popular online game League of Legends, and player reactions are mixed. A dataminer claims the game might soon offer WASD movement controls, traditionally seen in many first-person shooters.

The leak surfaced on May 14, 2025, from @SkinSpotlights, a well-known League of Legends leak account on X.com. The account stated, ‘WASD will be coming as a new official input method.’ Accompanying this post were images suggesting players could customize keyboard controls within the game’s settings.

The post quickly gained traction, garnering over 1.3 million views and 7,000 likes by 12 PM ET. The official r/leagueoflegends subreddit also saw a surge in engagement, receiving 2,000 upvotes as players voiced their opinions on the leaked information.

Responses within the community are polarized. Some players see WASD controls as a refreshing change that could improve the experience for newcomers. Reddit user u/spearmintflower labeled the possible change as ‘the biggest in League’s history,’ noting it could ease the learning curve for new players.

However, not all fans are on board with the idea. Critics argue that the new system could grant certain Champions unfair advantages while complicating gameplay for veterans accustomed to the traditional mouse movement. Player u/Grochen sarcastically commented, ‘Holy sh–. Honey! New Riven fastcombo tricks just dropped,’ while u/IyIonaghan bluntly expressed, ‘I kinda hate this.’

One user on X.com added, ‘I think I speak for the majority when I say WE DO NOT WANT THIS IN SUMMONER’S RIFT,’ reflecting the unease many have regarding potential changes to a long-established gameplay mechanic.

The click-to-move mechanism has become a hallmark of League of Legends since its release in 2009, adding a layer of skill in mastering character movement during gameplay. Critics worry that if implemented, WASD controls may significantly alter match dynamics, especially with Champions like Riven, who rely heavily on skill combinations.

As the community debates this potential transformation, Riot Games has yet to comment directly on the matter. More information is expected to emerge in the coming days as discussions continue.
