Kelsey Plum Uw Jersey Retirement Ceremony 2025

SEATTLE — University of Washington women’s basketball legend Kelsey Plum made history Saturday as her No. 10 jersey was retired during a ceremony at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Plum became the first woman in UW history to receive the honor, joining five other Huskies whose jerseys hang in the rafters.

“I’m forever proud to be a Husky and UW is a special place that fundamentally shaped me both as a basketball player and as a person,” Plum said. “It means the world to me to receive this honor and to celebrate it with my family, friends and alumni. It will be a great feeling to look up at the rafters and see my jersey alongside those that I’ve admired for so long.”

Plum, who played for UW from 2013 to 2017, left an indelible mark on the program and the NCAA record books. She became the all-time NCAA scoring leader with 3,527 points, a record that stood until 2024. She also broke the 33-year-old NCAA career free throw record with 912 makes and set the single-season NCAA scoring record with 1,109 points during the 2016-17 season, a mark that remained untouched until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Her achievements extended beyond scoring. Plum became UW’s all-time three-point leader, the Pac-12‘s all-time single-season scoring leader, and set the Pac-12 single-game scoring record with 57 points. “Kelsey is one of the great basketball players of all time, and she’s a UW legend,” said Washington Director of Athletics Pat Chun.

After her collegiate career, Plum continued to excel on the court, becoming a WNBA champion and an Olympic gold medalist. “An Olympic gold medalist and WNBA champion, Kelsey has inspired fans worldwide and countless young basketball players and student-athletes. We’re so fortunate to have Kelsey in the Husky family and honored to celebrate her as one of the greatest to wear the Purple and Gold,” Chun added.

The ceremony took place during the Huskies’ game against the Purdue Boilermakers, drawing a crowd of fans, alumni, and former teammates eager to celebrate Plum’s legacy. Her jersey now hangs alongside other UW greats, cementing her place in Husky history.
