Robert Lewandowski Barcelona Goal Celebration

Barcelona, Spain—Robert Lewandowski, the prolific striker for FC Barcelona, has set his sights on reaching 100 goals for the club. Following a key brace in the recent 2-1 victory over Girona, Lewandowski’s total has climbed to 97 goals in just a short tenure since joining the team.

The goals scored against Girona make Lewandowski the player with the most La Liga goals after the age of 36. His performance has highlighted his ongoing prowess on the field, keeping him in prime scoring form. With only a hat-trick needed to hit the century mark, Lewandowski’s next opportunity will come during the Copa del Rey semifinal against Atletico Madrid tonight.

“Reaching 100 goals is an immediate goal for me,” Lewandowski said post-match. “It’s exciting, but I am focused on helping the team advance in our Cup competition.”

Defeating Los Colchoneros, however, may prove challenging; they have presented one of the toughest defenses this season. Despite this, Lewandowski has already scored 15 goals in 2023 alone, nine of which have come through La Liga matches.

His seasonal tally currently stands at 38 goals across all competitions this season, achieved in just 42 games. “While I aim for personal milestones, my main priority is to contribute to the team’s success and ensure we secure our place in the Copa del Rey final,” he stated.

If Lewandowski does not achieve the milestone in tonight’s match, he may have another chance when Barcelona faces Real Betis in La Liga this weekend. As the season progresses, there remains a possibility for the veteran forward to not only reach 100 goals but also to push toward the 50-goal mark for the current campaign.
