Detroit Lions Players New Jersey Numbers 2025

DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Lions announced Thursday that several key players will change their jersey numbers for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, including running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Gibbs will switch from No. 26 to No. 0, while Williams transitions from No. 9 to No. 1. Both athletes previously wore No. 1 during their college football careers at Alabama.

Williams expressed intentions to wear the No. 1 jersey after joining the Lions two years ago, stating, “It’s a number I’ve always wanted. It represents my time at Alabama and the impact I want to have here in Detroit.” His previous number, No. 9, was linked to former teammate Jeff Okudah, who was traded in 2023.

In addition to Gibbs and Williams, the Lions confirmed that cornerback Terrion Arnold, who had worn No. 0 as a rookie, will now wear No. 6. This number change comes after Ifeatu Melifonwu left the team as a free agent.

The Lions’ complete list of number changes includes: D.J. Reed will wear No. 4, Ennis Rakestraw No. 9, Ronnie Bell No. 10, Tim Patrick No. 12, Grant Stuard No. 15, Rock Ya-Sin No. 23, Morice Norris No. 26, Roy Lopez No. 51, Kenny Yeboah No. 88, Al-Quadin Muhammad No. 96, and Brodric Martin No. 99. These changes exemplify the team’s renewed energy as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Following the announcement, head coach Dan Campbell emphasized the significance of jersey numbers in fostering team identity. “Numbers mean something to our players; they carry history and personal stories. This change reflects who they are and where they want to go with the team,” Campbell stated.

The Lions also unveiled their offseason program schedule on the same day, including organized team activities beginning in late May and mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 10-12. These events will be critical for newly signed players and others adjusting to their new numbers.

As the Lions gear up for what is anticipated to be an exciting 2025 season, fans look forward to seeing their team in a fresh light on the field.
