Sean Newcomb Fenway Park Red Sox

BOSTON, Mass. — Sean Newcomb, a hometown hero from Middleborough, will fulfill a lifelong dream today by pitching for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Newcomb is set to take the mound for the opening game of a split doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m.

This will mark a significant moment for Newcomb, who has previously played at Fenway with other teams but will don the iconic Red Sox colors for the first time. Growing up, he often envisioned this moment, and it is finally here.

“I can’t put into words what this means to me,” Newcomb said. “Fenway has always been my dream place to play, and to be on the mound for the Red Sox is something I’ve looked forward to my whole life.”

Manager Alex Cora has kept Boston’s lineup consistent from their previous game. Alongside Newcomb’s start, Kristian Campbell is making his debut in center field. The rest of the lineup includes Rob Refsnyder in right field, David Hamilton at second base, and Connor Wong behind the plate as the catcher.

Here’s how the rest of the lineup shapes up: Jarren Duran (left field), Rafael Devers (designated hitter), Alex Bregman (third base), Triston Casas (first base), Trevor Story (shortstop), Rob Refsnyder (right field), Kristian Campbell (center field), David Hamilton (second base), and Connor Wong (catcher).

Fans tuning in can catch the game on NESN, WEEI 93.7 FM, or WCCM 1490 AM in Spanish. This matchup promises to be an exciting event for both the players and local fans alike, celebrating Newcomb’s journey and the start of the doubleheader at one of baseball’s most historic stadiums.
