Longhorns Seek Revenge Against Texas State in Tuesday Showdown

SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Texas Longhorns will aim for redemption when they face off against Texas State on Tuesday. The match is set for April 1, and the Longhorns come in with an impressive record of 33-5 and 16-2 in the SEC. Meanwhile, the Bobcats hold a record of 19-20 and 8-10 in the Sun Belt.
Texas enters the game after winning five consecutive matches and seeking to continue their winning streak. They recently clinched their sixth straight weekend series in the SEC. Coach David Pierce plans to start Grayson Saunier, an Ole Miss transfer, who is looking to make an impact in his first start for the Longhorns after a strong performance on April 13.
On the other side, Texas State is bouncing back after losing two out of three games against Southern Miss over the weekend. Despite that setback, the Bobcats boast five wins against top power conference teams, including victories over Baylor, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State.
In their last matchup, Texas had moments of strong offense and missed opportunities. In one instance, Jonah Williams hit a ball off the wall but was thrown out at second base. Texas State’s Connor McCreery struggled early, issuing walks that set the stage for Chase Mora’s grand slam to left field in the sixth inning.
The game saw Texas make several scoring attempts. Jalin Flores managed to plate Ethan Mendoza with a double, then scored on Will Gasparino‘s single. Casey Borba added a two-run single that tied the game, but Texas State later reclaimed the lead after a wild pitch.
Grayson Saunier showed improvement, delivering his first scoreless inning, aided by a double play. Despite singles from Ethan Mendoza and Jalin Flores in the first inning, the Longhorns were unable to capitalize early. They aimed to turn around their fortunes against the Bobcats in this highly anticipated matchup.
