Lord Huron Performs ‘Strange Trails’ Amid Rain at Red Rocks

RED ROCKS, Colorado — Lord Huron celebrated the tenth anniversary of their album Strange Trails with a live performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 28, 2025. The band played through an increasingly heavy rain while delivering a captivating set to an enthusiastic crowd.
The evening began with a light drizzle as the band opened with ‘Love Like Ghosts,’ a track attributed to their fictional character Francine S. Lu, aka Frankie Lou. This song, along with their hit ‘The Night We Met,’ has garnered significant popularity, amassing over three billion Spotify streams.
As the rain intensified, many concertgoers donned $5 trash bag ponchos available at the venue, but their spirits remained high. The band’s lead singer, Ben Schneider, announced to the audience that some of the songs had not been performed in a decade. Schneider’s smooth crooner style, reminiscent of Chris Isaak, complemented the band’s blend of rock, country, and folk influences.
In keeping with their whimsical aesthetic, the members were dressed in Western-style outfits, and props like a broadcaster’s desk added to the show’s unique atmosphere. Schneider noted that the band dives deep into a narrative driven by their fictional universe, making it easy for fans to get lost in its lore.
Throughout the performance, the band showcased their full catalogue, emphasizing lesser-known tracks alongside their popular hits. A highlight of the night was when bassist and keyboardist Miguel Briseño performed an expressive solo during ‘Way Out There,’ enhancing the magical atmosphere amid the pouring rain.
After concluding Strange Trails with ‘The Night We Met,’ the band took a brief intermission before returning for an eight-song encore. Fans were particularly thrilled to hear ‘Nothing I Need,’ a song from Lord Huron’s upcoming album, The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1.
While the rain may have dampened the physical experience, it added an eerie yet fitting backdrop to the band’s anthems, evoking a sense of historical fiction that Lord Huron aims to create through their music. The event was a remarkable blend of enthusiasm, artistry, and a little weather drama.
