Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Injury 2024

The Los Angeles Chargers are facing uncertainty as their quarterback, Justin Herbert, deals with an ankle injury sustained during the recent game against the Carolina Panthers. Despite this setback, the team’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh, remains optimistic about Herbert’s availability for the upcoming Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Coach Harbaugh addressed the media on Wednesday, stating, “Crystal ball? I expect him to play—he’s getting better every day.” This statement came after a meeting with Herbert, where he was reportedly feeling improved compared to earlier in the week.

Currently, the Chargers are stationed in Charlotte, North Carolina, as they prepare for Sunday’s matchup in Pittsburgh. During the Week 2 victory over Carolina, Herbert sustained the injury in the third quarter when he was caught from behind while attempting to escape the pocket. Despite the discomfort, Herbert played through the rest of the game, although he was observed limping post-game.

Initial medical evaluations, including X-rays, returned negative for any significant damage to Herbert’s right leg, providing some relief for the Chargers. Should Herbert be unable to play, Coach Harbaugh has indicated that Easton Stick would be the starting quarterback, mentioning that they are careful not to delve too much into “what ifs.”

This is not the first injury Herbert has encountered this season. Earlier, during the team’s training camp, he dealt with a plantar fascia injury to his right foot, which required two weeks in a walking boot.
