Los Angeles Lakers Make Roster Adjustments Before Final Preseason Game
The Los Angeles Lakers have announced a series of roster adjustments ahead of their final preseason game. The team has signed Grayson Murphy while waiving two players, Kylor Kelly and Jordan Goodwin. All three athletes were on Exhibit-10 contracts at the time of these transactions.
In an official statement released by the Lakers, the team confirmed the signings and releases. The transaction appears to be a strategic move as both Kelly and Goodwin are anticipated to join the South Bay Lakers in the G League. Neither player had significant involvement during the Lakers’ recent preseason activities.
Grayson Murphy, a guard, gained some recognition among Summer League spectators earlier this year. He participated in games in California and Las Vegas, managing to achieve a double-double against the Chicago Bulls in Las Vegas. Prior to joining the Lakers’ Summer League team, Murphy played for the Dresden Titans in Germany, recording an average of 13.8 points with a 43.3% success rate from three-point range.
With the Lakers scheduled to play on the second night of a back-to-back, there is potential for Murphy to appear in their final preseason match. However, it is more likely that this signing will facilitate his eventual placement with South Bay.
The Lakers face a deadline until Tuesday to finalize additional roster moves, ensuring their lineup is fully compliant with restrictions. The main roster currently holds 15 players, and the three two-way spots are occupied. Notably, the Lakers have been proactively organizing their G League team roster this year, possibly exploring different strategies to optimize their resources relative to the G League.
This sequence of moves aligns with previous discussions within fan communities and platforms such as Reddit, highlighting the Lakers’ shared operational facilities with their G League counterpart. This could signal a shift in approach regarding player development and resource allocation.
