St. Louis CITY SC Acquires Winger Xande Silva from Atlanta United

St. Louis, MO — St. Louis CITY SC has acquired winger Xande Silva from Atlanta United just before the close of Major League Soccer’s Primary Transfer Window on Wednesday. In return, Atlanta United will receive a guaranteed $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for 2025, with the potential for up to $150,000 in 2026 GAM depending on performance incentives.
Xande Silva, a versatile 28-year-old attacker from Portugal, is expected to inject speed and creativity into CITY SC’s offense. Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel praised Silva, stating, “Xande is a player who brings versatility and speed to our attack and is very dangerous in 1v1 situations. He’s competed at a high level in multiple countries, and we believe his skill set fits with the way we want to play. We’re excited to have him here.”
Silva’s journey in MLS began in August 2023 when he joined Atlanta United from Dijon FCO in France. During his time with Atlanta, he made 40 MLS appearances, scoring four goals and providing seven assists. He netted two goals during the MLS Cup Playoffs, showcasing his ability to perform in high-pressure situations.
Before his tenure in MLS, Silva played professionally in several European leagues, including stints at West Ham United in England and Aris Thessaloniki in Greece. He began his career in Portugal, coming through the youth academies of Belenenses, Sporting CP, and Vitória Guimarães.
Currently, CITY SC is struggling offensively, having scored just five goals through their first nine matches this season. Silva’s arrival aims to bolster the team’s attack as they seek to climb the Western Conference standings. They are next scheduled to face Los Angeles FC this Sunday.
