LSU Eliminates UCLA, Advances in 2025 Men’s College World Series

OMAHA, NE — LSU advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 Men’s College World Series after defeating UCLA 9-5 on June 17, handing the Bruins their first loss of the tournament.
The game, which originally suspended due to severe weather on Monday night, resumed on Tuesday morning. Both teams started strong, with UCLA scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. However, LSU quickly responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the same inning.
LSU scored another run before the game’s interruption, and they maintained control throughout the match. Despite UCLA’s efforts, which included using six different pitchers, they could only manage to score one more run in the eighth inning.
LSU’s Jared Jones was the standout player, contributing significantly with a three-run homer in the first inning and totaling four RBIs for the game. LSU now boasts a 2-0 record in Omaha, continuing a trend where they have won six of the last seven Men’s College World Series titles after starting with two wins.
