LSU to Face Little Rock in NCAA Regional Championship Rematch

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU baseball will face Little Rock in a crucial regional championship game at 8 p.m. CT on Monday at Alex Box Stadium. The matchup comes after Little Rock’s 10-4 victory over LSU on Sunday night, which forced the decisive contest.
The winner of Monday’s game will advance to the NCAA Super Regional to play West Virginia, starting either Friday or Saturday. This game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network and televised on ESPN2.
Little Rock improved its record to 27-33 following its victory. Angel Cano was a standout performer, driving in five runs with a two-run homer and a three-run double. His efforts helped the Trojans overcome an early 3-0 deficit against LSU.
“Great job by Little Rock today,” said LSU coach Jay Johnson. “They took a lot of good at-bats throughout the day, and our game tonight kind of speaks for itself.”
LSU, now 45-15, suffered a setback after previously winning their game earlier in the tournament against Dallas Baptist. The Tigers’ bullpen struggled, and reliever Chase Shores was charged with the loss.
Freshman left-hander Cooper Williams was a bright spot for LSU, delivering 3.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Coach Johnson expressed confidence in his players’ resilience heading into the rematch.
“Our players have done a good job this year of bouncing back after a tough game, both individually and collectively,” Johnson said. “It gives me great confidence about what they can do tomorrow.”
As both teams prepare for the high-stakes game, fans and players alike are eager to see who will secure a spot in the Super Regionals.
