Lsu Vs Ole Miss Basketball Game Highlights February 8 2025

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — In a stunning turn of events, LSU‘s basketball team squandered an 11-point lead with 3:15 remaining, falling 72-70 to No. 25 Ole Miss on Saturday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Ole Miss (18-6, 7-4 SEC) erased the deficit with a 13-0 run, culminating in Dre Davis‘ game-winning putback that was initially ruled offensive interference but overturned after a replay review. The reversal sealed LSU’s fate, marking their second loss to the Rebels this season.

Despite the heartbreaking finish, LSU (12-11, 1-9 SEC) showed resilience throughout the game. Cam Carter led the Tigers with 16 points, while Daimion Collins added 15. However, LSU’s struggles at the free-throw line, converting just 12 of 25 attempts, proved costly.

The first half saw LSU take control, building a 39-33 lead. The Tigers dominated the boards, grabbing 22 rebounds to Ole Miss’ 15, including seven offensive rebounds. Collins was a standout, scoring 13 points in the first half with efficient play in the paint and mid-range.

LSU’s offense, which started sluggishly, found its rhythm as the game progressed. The team committed only two turnovers in the first half and finished with 10, a notable achievement against an Ole Miss squad ranked first nationally in turnover percentage.

“We controlled the game for 37 minutes, but we couldn’t finish,” said LSU head coach Matt McMahon. “We need to learn how to close games if we want to compete at this level.”

The loss further dims LSU’sSEC hopes, leaving them at 1-9 in conference play. Meanwhile, Ole Miss continues to solidify its position in the league standings.

LSU will seek redemption in its next matchup, aiming to overcome late-game struggles that have plagued the team this season.
