BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 2 LSU Gymnastics team secured its sixth Southeastern Conference Championship title with a record-breaking score of 198.200 on March 21, 2025, during the 2025 SEC Gymnastics Championships held at Legacy Arena. This remarkable victory marks the highest score ever achieved by LSU at the SEC Championships, affirming the Tigers’ strength as they ended the competition atop both sessions.

LSU’s stellar performance outpaced No. 1 Oklahoma, which scored 197.925, and Florida, which finished third with 197.825. The Tigers have now claimed the SEC title in five of the last eight years, with head coach Jay Clark guiding them to back-to-back championships in his fifth season.

The competition kicked off with LSU’s rotation on the uneven bars, where they recorded a team score of 49.600—an all-time high for the program at SEC Championships. Freshman Lexi Zeiss led the way with a score of 9.875, followed closely by Ashley Cowan‘s 9.900. Kailin Chio achieved a career-high score of 9.950 in the third spot, a feat that was matched by Aleah Finnegan in the following position. Konnor McClain and Haliegh Bryant concluded the bars rotation, both scoring 9.900.

Transitioning to the balance beam, the Tigers continued their upward momentum, earning a total score of 49.450—which is also a program-best at the SEC meet. Sierra Ballard and Kylie Coen each scored 9.850, while McClain secured a score of 9.900. Bryant’s considerable effort yielded a score of 9.950, complemented by Finnegan’s 9.925, capping off an impressive rotation.

LSU’s floor rotation saw Coen opening with a score of 9.875, with Chio and Amari Drayton notably achieving scores of 9.950 each. Finnegan’s performance added a score of 9.900, ending the floor exercise with a score of 49.625, noted as the second-highest score at the SEC Championships.

In the final rotation on vault, KJ Johnson initiated the sequence with a score of 9.875, followed by Zeiss and Finnegan at 9.900 each. Drayton contributed a score of 9.800, while Chio and Bryant closed with scores of 9.900 and 9.950, respectively, rounding out the vault score at 49.525, placing it as the fourth highest in LSU’s history.

Throughout the second session, LSU maintained its lead, achieving top-five program scores across all events. Haleigh Bryant emerged as the top gymnast with an all-around score of 39.725, successfully defending her SEC All-Around title from the previous year. Now a five-time SEC Champion, Bryant also shared the beam title with Finnegan after both received scores of 9.925.
