LSU has been ranked No. 2 in the 2025 Perfect Game Baseball Preseason Poll, released Monday, trailing only Texas A&M in the highly anticipated rankings. The Tigers, led by 2023 National Coach of the Year Jay Johnson, are poised for another championship run with a roster blending experienced returners and impactful newcomers.

The poll places Virginia, Georgia, and Tennessee in the top five, while Florida State, Texas, Clemson, Duke, and Oregon State round out the Top 10. LSU will face 19 regular-season games against teams ranked in the Top 25, including a February 26 matchup with No. 17 Dallas Baptist at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

LSU returns seven position players with starting experience, including senior shortstop Michael Braswell III and senior outfielder Josh Pearson. The pitching staff features six veteran hurlers, such as junior right-hander Gavin Guidry and sophomore left-hander Kade Anderson. The Tigers also boast a strong recruiting class, with 12 NCAA Division I transfers and 10 high school signees.

Nine LSU players were ranked among Baseball America’s Top 100 College Transfers, including junior infielder Daniel Dickinson (No. 2) and junior right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson (No. 4). Additionally, 11 Tigers appeared in Baseball America’s Top 500 Prospects list for the 2024 MLB Draft, highlighting the program’s depth and talent.

LSU opens its 2025 season on February 14 at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, hosting Purdue Fort Wayne. The Tigers’ schedule includes matchups against SEC rivals like No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 5 Tennessee, and No. 13 Arkansas, setting the stage for a competitive season.

Other SEC teams in the Top 25 include No. 11 Florida, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Oklahoma, and No. 22 Auburn. Vanderbilt, ranked No. 15, is among 10 SEC teams in the poll, reflecting the conference’s dominance in college baseball.
