Baton Rouge, La. — The start time for the LSU-Tennessee baseball game on Friday night has been moved to 9:50 p.m. CT due to inclement weather in the Baton Rouge area. The game was initially scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
The matchup features the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers (34-7, 12-6 SEC) facing off against the No. 4 LSU Tigers (34-8, 12-6 SEC). Fans can listen to the game on the LSU Sports Radio Network and stream it on SEC Network +.
LSU will host Tennessee at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, with a seating capacity of 10,718. The series will continue on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT and conclude on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
This weekend’s events include celebrating the 50th anniversary of LSU Baseball’s 1975 SEC Championship, with members of the ’75 team honored before Friday’s first pitch. On Saturday, LSU legend Skip Bertman will sign biographies outside the stadium from 5-7 p.m., commemorating the 25-year anniversary of LSU Baseball’s 2000 National Championship.
LSU is currently tied for third place in the SEC standings, sharing the position with Tennessee. Both teams have experienced recent successes, with LSU boasting a strong offense, ranking second in the SEC with a .316 batting average, and Tennessee returning as the 2024 College World Series champion.
Coach Jay Johnson emphasized the importance of moving forward after setbacks, mentioning Tennessee’s talented roster. “They have big arms, big bats, and on the pitching side, they do what they do really well,” said Johnson.
The series marks an opportunity for both teams to improve their standings in the SEC and showcase their skills as they head into the final stretch of the season. The first two games will feature notable pitching matchups, with LSU’s Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson taking the mound.
The Tigers are also excited to see rising country artist Timothy Wayne throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Sunday, as he balances his music career and studies at LSU.
