MARAKECH, MoroccoLuciano Darderi of Italy has advanced to the semifinals of the ATP 250 Grand Prix Hassan II, marking his fourth appearance at this stage in an ATP Tour event on April 4, 2025. The seventh-seeded player secured his spot after defeating Czech player Dalibor Svrčina with a score of 7-5, 6-2.

This victory extends Darderi’s winning streak to three matches, a personal record he hasn’t achieved since last July. Notably, all his semifinal appearances have taken place on clay courts. With a potential second ATP Tour title, which he won in Cordoba in 2024, Darderi could return to the Top 50 in the PIF ATP Rankings.

During the match, Darderi excelled with an impressive performance, saving five out of six break points, according to Infosys ATP Stats. He also delivered five aces throughout his 10 service games and achieved four breaks against Svrčina on 14 opportunities.

Next, Darderi will face fifth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who successfully overcame fourth seed Nicolas Jarry with a score of 6-4, 6-4 in another quarterfinal matchup. The 32-year-old Spaniard aims to secure his second title at this tournament, having previously won the event in 2023 and reached the finals in 2024.

In another significant semifinal, top seed Tallon Griekspoor advanced with a win over eighth seed Hugo Grenier, finishing with a score of 6-3, 6-4. This match marked Griekspoor’s first clay-court semi-final on the ATP Tour and made him the second Dutchman to reach the semifinals in tournament history since Paul Haarhuis in 1995.

Darderi’s match and victories showcased a competitive spirit as all four quarterfinals held that day were first-time encounters under the Lexus ATP Head2Head format. Darderi’s strong performance amidst the stiff competition in Marrakech highlights his potential and determination to climb higher in the rankings.
