Ludvig Åberg Pga Tour Pebble Beach 2025

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — World No. 6 Ludvig Åberg withdrew from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Friday, citing illness, just hours before his scheduled second-round tee time with Rory McIlroy. The Swedish golfer, who struggled in the opening round, was set to play at 9:53 a.m. local time.

Åberg, 24, had been battling illness since last week’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, where he finished tied for 42nd. His performance at Pebble Beach was lackluster, as he shot a 5-over 77 at Spyglass Hill on Thursday, placing him last in several statistical categories.

McIlroy, who opened with a 6-under 66 that included a hole-in-one, will now play alongside amateur partner Jeff Rhodes and Åberg’s partner, Jimmy Dunne. Cypress Point Head Professional Casey Reamer will complete the group.

Åberg, a former No. 1 in PGA TOUR University, underwent medial meniscus surgery in September and took a month off to recover. He returned to competition at The RSM Classic in November, finishing tied for 17th, and started 2025 strong with a tie for fifth at The Sentry.

Despite his recent successes, Åberg’s health struggles have hindered his performance. His withdrawal marks another setback in what has been a challenging season for the rising star.
