Luka Doncic Dallas Mavericks Injury Update 2025

DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Mavericks have been reeling since Christmas Day when star guard Luka Doncic suffered a left calf strain during a 105–99 loss. Without their leading scorer, the team has stumbled to a 5-11 record, casting doubt on their ability to defend their Western Conference title. However, a recent report suggests Doncic could return before the All-Star break, offering a glimmer of hope for the struggling squad.

Veteran basketball insider Marc Stein reported Saturday that there is optimism within the Mavericks organization about Doncic’s potential return ahead of the All-Star break, which begins Feb. 14. “Exactly one month removed from the left calf strain Luka Doncic sustained on Christmas Day, I’m told there is optimism in Dallas about Doncic making his return to the Mavericks’ lineup before the All-Star break,” Stein wrote on social media.

Doncic, the NBA’s reigning scoring champion, has been a cornerstone for the Mavericks this season, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. His absence has left a significant void in the team’s offense and defense, forcing players like Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, and P.J. Washington to shoulder more responsibility.

The Mavericks’ injury woes extend beyond Doncic. Key contributors Dante Exum (wrist), Dereck Lively (ankle), Maxi Kleber (foot), Dwight Powell (hip), and Naji Marshall (illness) are also sidelined. The team, currently holding a 24-22 record, faces an uphill battle to stay competitive in the Western Conference playoff race.

As of Jan. 27, Doncic remained out for the Mavericks’ game against the Washington Wizards at the American Airlines Center. The Wizards, with a dismal 6-38 record, present a winnable matchup, but Dallas must adjust its game plan to compensate for its depleted roster.

Fans and analysts alike are closely monitoring Doncic’s recovery timeline. His return could provide the spark the Mavericks need to reignite their playoff aspirations. For now, the team must rely on its remaining healthy players to keep their season afloat.
