Lululemon Unveils New Tennis Gear at BNP Paribas Open

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Tennis fans are treated to a blend of athleticism and fashion at the BNP Paribas Open, where Lululemon showcases striking new apparel worn by ambassadors Frances Tiafoe and Leylah Fernandez. The tournament, considered one of the most glamorous in the United States, runs through March 16, 2025.
This year’s offerings, highlighted by bold shades of Starch Blue, mark an ambitious collaboration for the Vancouver-based brand. Both Tiafoe and Fernandez are set to turn heads on the court with kits that reflect their personal styles. Fernandez’s attire includes a $58 Power Pivot Training Tank and a $88 Perforated Narrow Waistband Tennis Skirt, while Tiafoe showcases the Striped Mesh Tennis Short Sleeve and the 7-inch Linerless Short, each priced at $88.
“Indian Wells is one of the most iconic tournaments in the U.S., drawing tennis fans from around the world,” said Rebecca Marstaller, Lululemon’s senior vice president of North America brand marketing. “Frances embodies the energy, passion, and style that make the sport so dynamic.”
Beyond individual matches, Lululemon’s presence is substantial at Indian Wells. It has installed oversized tennis props and immersive experiences for attendees, including custom vending machines dispensing limited-edition ‘Big Foe’ headbands to members. Fans who wear Lululemon gear during the tournament can also earn gift cards for the local store.
The promotional push features billboards along I-10 and at Palm Springs airport, ensuring that Tiafoe’s image captivates fans across the region. A complete transformation of the Lululemon Palm Desert store further highlights this collaboration, with exclusive tennis products and athlete-inspired displays.
Tiafoe expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “I’m really excited to wear Lululemon on the court,” he commented. “I got to give a lot of input into my look, which feels very me and shows off my style.”
As for Fernandez, she joins Tiafoe in wearing the Starch Blue ensemble, prepared to compete at the level expected at such a prestigious event. The excitement surrounding their participation and the fashion-forward gear is palpable as they aim to leave lasting impressions on both the court and within the fashion community.
In addition to Lululemon’s activities, the tournament has seen other notable players, including Emma Raducanu, who returned to the court following a recent injury. Despite a first-round loss to Moyuka Uchijima, Raducanu remained optimistic, emphasizing the challenges she faced rather than dwelling on her circumstances.
“I think it was tough conditions, difficult ball from my opponent,” Raducanu said post-match. “I tried to be aggressive, but it didn’t work today.”
As the BNP Paribas Open continues, fans are not only treated to world-class tennis but also a unique intersection of sports and fashion that Lululemon is eager to cultivate further.
