CHARLESTON, S.C. — Madison Keys, the No. 2 seed and 2019 champion, begins her quest for the title at the WTA Credit One Charleston Open today against Caroline Dolehide in the second round. Seeds received byes in the first round, while Dolehide advanced by defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto in a dominant 6-4, 6-1 performance.

This matchup marks the first meeting between Keys and Dolehide, with Keys holding a favorable head-to-head record of 2-0 over her compatriot. Keys has been a standout at this tournament in the past, looking to shake off recent disappointments, including a second-round exit at the Miami Open.

Keys is among the favorites to capture this week’s title, boosted by her strong clay performance last year. “I’m excited to be back on the clay. I’ve had success here before, and I intend to start strong,” she stated during a pre-match interview.

On the other side of the court, Dolehide enters the match with a 7-6 record this year and a recent boost in confidence stemming from her victory over Cocciaretto. “I’m ready to challenge myself against a top player like Madison. I believe in my game,” she noted.

The tournament’s predictive analytics model has Keys with an 84% chance of victory, highlighting her experience and solid performance history as key factors. Analysts have cited Keys’s ability to win the first set with a 78% probability, reinforcing her status as the favorite.

In other matches in the tournament, Heather Watson will attempt to secure her first tour-level win since last September against Iryna Shymanovich, looking to capitalize on a favorable match-up. Watson edged past a dry spell with a slight edge in past performance.

Additionally, Lauren Davis will compete against qualifier Jamie Loeb after recently wrapping up a win in Miami. Davis’s experience as a former quarterfinalist here might play to her advantage.

The Keys vs. Dolehide match is set to begin at 3:25 p.m. ET at the Family Circle Tennis Center, with anticipation high among fans and bettors alike. Broadcasting rights for the tournament remain with Tennis Channel in the U.S. and Sky Sports Tennis in the UK.
