Malique Ewin Transfers to Arkansas, Aims to Boost Razorbacks’ Frontcourt

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Former Florida State forward Malique Ewin has officially committed to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 2. Ewin’s move comes after a promising season with the Seminoles, during which he started all 30 games.
The 6-foot-11 junior left Florida State having averaged 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, showcasing his proficiency by shooting 59.6% from the field. Ewin’s standout performance came during Florida State’s season finale, where he scored a season-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a victory.
Before his time with the Seminoles, Ewin spent a year at South Plains College in Texas, where he earned NJCAA All-American First-Team honors and was named the junior college player of the year. Initially, he had committed to play at USF for the 2023-24 season but opted for the junior college route to further develop his skills.
Ewin began his collegiate journey at Ole Miss and later transferred to South Plains College before landing at Florida State. He played high school basketball at Berkmar High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where he was a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 93 overall player in the 2022 recruiting cycle.
At Arkansas, Ewin will be stepping into a crucial role, especially after the Razorbacks lost significant talent to the transfer portal earlier this month. His addition is seen as a vital move for head coach John Calipari, who aims to rebuild the team’s frontcourt for next season.
Arkansas had a tumultuous yet successful season in Calipari’s debut, overcoming a rough start to reach the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. After defeating formidable opponents in the tournament, the coaching staff is looking to build on that momentum by bringing in notable transfers like Ewin.
“Malique is a strong, skilled player who can significantly contribute both offensively and defensively,” said Calipari. “His ability to finish around the rim and protect the paint will be essential for our team moving forward.”
Ewin will bring two years of eligibility to the Razorbacks, presenting an opportunity for further development and success at the collegiate level.
