O’Malley and McGregor End Feud Ahead of Big Fight

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — UFC fighter Sean O’Malley and Conor McGregor have resolved their recent feud, which began when McGregor mentioned O’Malley alongside boxer Nate Diaz after a controversial fight. This sparked a back-and-forth exchange of harsh words between the two superstars.
The conflict appears to have settled, with O’Malley acknowledging McGregor’s influence during his preparations for his upcoming rematch against Merab Dvalishvili this Saturday. O’Malley revealed that he studied McGregor’s legendary rematch against Diaz in 2016, where McGregor avenged his only loss in the UFC.
“I’m very excited for O’Malley’s rematch,” McGregor tweeted, adding that he admired O’Malley’s dedication to his training, likening it to his own before the Diaz fight. “Very reminiscent of my Diaz 2 prep. Intriguing! BIG FIGHT FEEL!”
O’Malley reacted positively to McGregor’s comments during a UFC 316 media day, expressing his admiration for the former double champion. “I’ll forever be a huge Conor fan. I watched his rise and it’s been amazing,” he said. “I’m pumped the relationship is back to good.”
While O’Malley studied McGregor’s fight style, he also looked at other legendary matchups for fresh insights. “I’ve been watching a lot of old school fights,” he said. “I’ve watched Chuck Liddell versus Randy Couture. It’s been cool to watch and learn.”
O’Malley’s admiration for McGregor highlights the influence the Irish fighter has had on the sport, known for becoming the first in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously. O’Malley believes there is always something to gain from studying McGregor’s performances, both inside and outside of the octagon.
“I’ve watched a lot of Conor fights,” O’Malley stated, affirming his respect for McGregor’s contributions to the sport. “He’s done it all, and I take inspiration from him.”
