Toru Ohtani, Shohei’s father, penned an open letter through Naoyuki Yanagihara of Sponichi expressing his pride in his son’s accomplishments this season. In the letter, he attributed some of Shohei’s renewed focus and performance to Tanaka’s influence, noting that his marriage had brought a newfound sense of equilibrium that had previously been missing.

Shohei himself has acknowledged the burden he sometimes felt while playing for his previous team, the Los Angeles Angels. He explained that despite the pressure, with Tanaka beside him, he gained the clarity needed to overcome his challenges. His transition to the Dodgers was smoother, allowing him to shine alongside the team’s solid support, both on the field and at home.
