Manchester City Vs Southampton Premier League 2025

SOUTHAMPTON, England — Manchester City will visit Southampton on Saturday, looking to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for next season. City has won four consecutive matches in the Premier League and is currently in third place, just three points behind second-place Arsenal, with three games remaining.

The surge in form for City comes as Arsenal struggles, leading many to believe that the Cityzens could finish as runners-up this season. The Saints, however, are facing dire challenges as they sit at the bottom of the table with only two wins all season. They are desperate to accumulate points to avoid being labeled as the worst team in Premier League history.

City’s success recently has been notable, especially after suffering setbacks like being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and losing their title to Liverpool. Coach Pep Guardiola has been without key player Rodri for much of the season, and now he aims to integrate star striker Erling Haaland back into the lineup after an injury.

Last week, Kevin De Bruyne scored the decisive goal that helped City win 1-0 against Wolves. Against Southampton, they will likely start goalkeeper Ederson and a defensive line featuring Matheus Nunes, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, and Nico O'Reilly.

City’s midfield may include Ilkay Gundogan and Nico Gonzalez, with De Bruyne playing a critical attacking role. Meanwhile, Southampton boss Simon Rusk will feature Paul Onuachu, who is expected to provide some offensive threat against a City defense trying to maintain its strong form.

Currently, Southampton has nothing to lose as they enter this match, seeking to halt a string of disappointing performances. They have garnered only two points since early February and will hope for a shock result against a City side that seems to be finding its rhythm as the season comes to a close.

The match kicks off at 3 PM local time at St. Mary’s Stadium, as both teams look to secure their respective goals – City pursuing Champions League football while Southampton fights to leave the season with some dignity.
