Manchester City Signs Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders for €55 Million

Manchester, England – June 3, 2025 – Manchester City has completed a deal to sign midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for €55 million (£46.3 million) plus potential add-ons. The 26-year-old Dutch international has agreed to a five-year contract, marking a significant addition to Pep Guardiola‘s squad.
Discussions between the two clubs began earlier in May, when City expressed interest in Reijnders, who impressed during the 2024 season by scoring 15 goals and earning the Serie A Midfielder of the Year award. The transfer comes in light of Kevin De Bruyne‘s exit, creating a need for depth in City’s midfield.
Reijnders recently renewed his contract with Milan, but the club has agreed to let him move to the Premier League side. His style of play is seen as a mix between Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, with the capability to contribute effectively in various midfield roles.
Following his debut for the Netherlands national team in 2023, Reijnders has earned 22 caps and competed in the semi-finals of the 2024 European Championship. His adaptability and technical finesse are expected to bolster Manchester City’s midfield.
City will finalize the transfer once all formal steps, including a medical examination, are completed. The club aims to enhance its squad as it prepares for another competitive season.
