Manchester United Transfer News Geovany Quenda Sporting Lisbon

PARIS, France — As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United is set to intensify its pursuit of 17-year-old Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon, a talent that has drawn attention from Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG has established a strong connection with Portuguese football, thanks in part to sporting advisor Luis Campos. The club has brought in players like Vitinha, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos from Portugal, contributing to their domestic and international ambitions.

Recent reports indicate that United is preparing to make a move for Quenda, who has also been on PSG’s radar. The interest from Manchester United is particularly noteworthy given manager Rúben Amorim‘s previous tenure at Sporting Lisbon, where he developed a rapport with the young player.

Sources reveal that United hopes to secure Quenda this summer, with Amorim eager to reunite with the teen sensation. According to reports, Quenda is likely to command a fee of approximately €40 million (£33.4 million) due to his potential and marketability.

Quenda himself appears to lean toward a transfer to Old Trafford, influenced by Amorim’s presence at the club. “Seeing Rúben Amorim again is a big factor in my decision-making,” Quenda reportedly stated, highlighting the bond they share.

Furthermore, Manchester United’s strategy includes integrating Quenda along with recent signing Patrick Dorgu, enhancing their attacking options on either flank. Both players are viewed as pivotal to United’s plans moving forward.

While Quenda’s contract includes an £83 million release clause, indications suggest that a transfer could occur for a lesser fee, especially given the player’s desire to leave Sporting. With interest from both PSG and Manchester City, time will tell where Quenda’s future lies.
