Manchester United Loanee Mason Greenwood Subjected To Booing By Osasuna Fans In La Liga Clash

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood had a disappointing evening during Getafe‘s clash against Osasuna in La Liga. The match, held at Estadio El Sadar, ended in a 3-2 defeat for Geta Azulones. Osasuna’s Jesus Areso scored what could be considered a ‘goal of the year’ contender. Raul Garcia opened the scoring for Los Rojillos in the sixth minute, followed by Iker Munoz doubling the advantage in the 31st minute. However, Getafe managed to draw level with two quick-fire goals from Borja Mayoral and Nemanja Maksimovic in the second half. With just 10 minutes remaining, Areso secured the victory for Osasuna with a remarkable goal from an extremely tight angle.

This encounter was marred by an unfortunate incident involving Greenwood. Previously, during a match between the two sides in September, the Osasuna fans subjected Greenwood to vile chants, even calling for his death. Surprisingly, during this recent clash, Greenwood was booed by a section of the fans throughout the match, indicating that the animosity towards him still exists within the club’s fanbase.

Greenwood’s loan deal with Getafe is set to expire at the end of the season, and he will have to return to Old Trafford to determine his future. There have been rumors linking him with a permanent move to La Liga, with clubs like Atletico Madrid and Getafe reportedly interested in his services. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s forward lineup has undergone changes, with the signings of Mason Mount from Chelsea and Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side. However, despite these reinforcements, the Red Devils have struggled to find consistency this season.
