Marc Guiu Faces Setback Ahead of UEFA Euro U-19 Championship

London, England – Marc Guiu, a young forward for Chelsea, is facing a lengthy recovery due to a serious adductor injury. The setback comes after Guiu had started to gain the trust of coach Enzo Maresca and was showing impressive form on the field.
Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory against West Ham on February 3, Maresca announced that Guiu would likely be sidelined for weeks or even months. ‘Unfortunately, Marc has a serious injury. It does not look like a short injury,’ said Maresca after the match.
The injury is especially unfortunate as it coincides with the return of fellow striker Nicolás Jackson from his own injury. Guiu had made an impact in the preseason tour with a goal against Club América and played 24 minutes in his Premier League debut.
He quickly became a standout in the Conference League with six goals in six matches, including key performances against Astana and Shamrock Rovers. ‘When he has the opportunity, he always takes it,’ Maresca commented after the victory against Astana, underscoring Guiu’s potential.
Despite being out for months, Guiu remained a top scorer for Chelsea, and his growth continued to be recognized. He was also preparing to make his mark with the Spain U-19 national team in the upcoming European Championship in Romania. Guiu had hoped to lead the squad to defend their title, which they won in 2005.
Under coach Paco Gallardo, the U-19s will prepare for the Euros with a training camp in Alfaz del Pi, Alicante, from June 2 to 9. Following that, Gallardo will announce the final roster for the tournament on June 10.
The U-19 team is set to face Denmark, Romania, and Montenegro in the group stages, aiming to reclaim their championship title. Meanwhile, Guiu remains committed to his recovery and hopes to return to competitive action soon.
