Marcus Thuram Scores Historic Goal as Inter Milan Draws Barcelona 3-3

Milan, Italy – In a thrilling UEFA Champions League semifinal match, Marcus Thuram scored just 30 seconds into the game, leading Inter Milan to a 3-3 draw against FC Barcelona on April 30.
The French striker executed a stunning “Madjer” move, a skillful back-heeled goal that marked the fastest goal of the season and one of the quickest in the history of the competition. The game was a back-and-forth battle where both teams fought hard for supremacy.
Playing at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, also known as San Siro, in front of a crowd of 70,000, Inter Milan will rely on Thuram for the return match on May 6, especially with his striking partner, Lautaro Martinez, uncertain to play due to a hamstring injury.
Martinez, who has scored 20 goals and provided six assists this season, had to leave the field just after halftime. This puts additional pressure on Thuram, who made a noteworthy return from a previous adductor injury during the first leg of the semifinal.
Despite his injuries this season, this match marked Thuram’s fourth goal in the Champions League and his 18th in all competitions for Inter in the 2024-2025 season. With nine assists as well, he plays a crucial role in the team’s offensive strategies.
Thuram, the eldest son of 1998 World Cup champion Lilian Thuram, started his career at Sochaux in France before stints at Guingamp and Borussia Mönchengladbach. He joined Inter Milan in July 2023, immediately showcasing his talent with 15 goals and 7 assists in his first season.
As the team prepares to face Barcelona again, they are reminded of their history. In 2010, Inter Milan eliminated Barcelona in the semifinals during their last Champions League victory.
In the upcoming match, Thuram will undoubtedly need to find ways to counter young talent Lamine Yamal, who impressed in the first leg. “You might need eleven players to stop him,” Thuram said jokingly after the match.
