Mariners Nintendo Jerseys Announcement

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Mariners have announced a unique partnership with Nintendo of America, unveiling a new jersey design that features Nintendo imagery, marking a first for Major League Baseball.

This announcement came during a press conference on March 20, 2025, where the Mariners revealed that for the first time, their jerseys will have different patches for home and away games. According to the team, the home jersey sleeves will display the classic Nintendo ‘racetrack’ logo on a vibrant red patch, while the away jerseys will feature the logo of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

All-Star centerfielder Julio Rodríguez will not only don these new jerseys but has also been named a brand ambassador for the partnership. Rodríguez expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fans and show off our love for gaming and baseball.”

Notably, Nintendo of America’s relationship with the Mariners dates back to 1992, when the company, led at that time by CEO Hiroshi Yamauchi, purchased a controlling stake in the team. Yamauchi’s motivation was to show appreciation for Seattle, which is home to Nintendo’s U.S. headquarters. Although Nintendo sold most of its stake in the Mariners in 2016, it still retains a 10 percent share.

As the Mariners gear up for the upcoming season, the team continues to innovate ways to engage with their fanbase, and this partnership with Nintendo is a significant step in that direction. The excitement surrounding these new jerseys is palpable among fans and players, suggesting that this season will be one to remember.
