Mark Wahlberg Interview Faith Lent

NEW YORK, NY — Actor Mark Wahlberg recently shared insights about his faith and the significance of Lent during an interview with Fox News senior correspondent Benjamin Hall.

Wahlberg, who is involved with the Catholic prayer app Hallow, discussed how the app has enhanced his spiritual journey just as the Christian season of Lent begins. The season starts on Ash Wednesday and leads up to Easter Sunday in April.

“I would say that I’m nothing other than a humble servant to God,” Wahlberg stated. “I was put in this position for a specific reason.” The actor encourages users to incorporate faith into their daily life through Hallow, which is launching its Lent Pray40 Challenge this year. This initiative provides special guests who will lead daily prayer and meditation sessions.

For Wahlberg, Lent represents a time of reflection and renewal that draws him closer to God. He emphasized the importance of self-improvement during this season, saying, “It’s a reminder that I need to do more, and I need to be better.” He also expressed that distractions in life can deter one from focusing on the relationship with God.

The Lent Pray40 Challenge includes notable personalities like actor Chris Pratt, who will participate in discussions about fasting, one of the essential components of Lent. Wahlberg believes Lent encourages recognition of personal flaws and striving for improvement. “I think we all have things to repent for,” he remarked.

Reflecting on his past, Wahlberg shared, “I had a very, very troubled childhood. Until now, just being impatient with people, being short with people, not being as understanding, as thoughtful.” He stressed the need for collective mindfulness, noting, “There’s only one person who was perfect that walked this Earth, and that was Jesus. And everybody else should be a little more mindful.”

Last year, Hallow achieved a significant milestone by becoming the top app on the App Store, marking the first time a religious app gained the number one spot. Wahlberg hopes this trend continues, enabling young people to strengthen their faith and make wiser choices. He stated, “Encouraging young people to help them avoid making the same mistakes that I made and that other people make… With God in your life every day, it allows you to be in the position where you can make the right choices.”

Wahlberg revealed that many now approach him to discuss Hallow and how it has impacted their lives, often acting as a bridge for those reconnecting with their faith or discovering it for the first time.

With the Lent Pray40 Challenge underway, Wahlberg, along with other faith leaders, is encouraging participation in prayer, reflection, and personal renewal this Lenten season.
