Marquette Basketball Georgetown Game March 1 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The No. 21 Marquette University men’s basketball team (21-7, 12-5 Big East) is gearing up to face Georgetown (16-12, 7-10 Big East) on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 7 p.m. CT at Capital One Arena. This matchup marks the final regular season Peacock game of the year for the Golden Eagles.

Although the game will not be broadcast on traditional television, fans can catch the action via live streaming on Peacock, with John Fanta and Tarik Turner providing commentary. Those wishing to listen on the radio can tune in to 94.5 ESPN Milwaukee, which is also available online.

Marquette enters the contest with confidence, having covered the spread in their recent 82-52 victory over Providence. The Golden Eagles are favored by 5.5 points, with a 69% chance of winning according to projections that predict a final score of 74-68.

The Golden Eagles hold a historical advantage in their series against the Hoyas, leading 24-14 overall. Marquette has been particularly dominant lately, securing victories in 14 of their last 17 matchups, including the last seven encounters. The last time these teams faced off, Marquette made a significant comeback to win 74-66 on January 7, 2025, after trailing by as many as 14 points.

Adding tension to Saturday’s game, Georgetown will be without freshman big man Thomas Sorber, who is out for the season due to a foot injury that required surgery. Sorber averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across 24 games this season.

In their last outing, the Golden Eagles showcased their shooting prowess, especially from beyond the arc, making 12 of 15 three-pointers in the first half against Providence. Marquette’s three-point shooting has improved dramatically, setting a new program single-game record with 41 attempts in that game.

Marquette’s recent success can be credited to the team’s remarkable consistency, fielding the same starting lineup throughout the majority of the season, a strategy that has resulted in their ranking for 48 consecutive weeks in the Associated Press Top-25. This has also led to a significant continuity that has proven beneficial on the court.

Junior forward Ben Gold stands out with his recent performances, scoring a career-high 17 points while contributing to the team’s third-largest winning margin in BIG EAST history with their last victory.

The Golden Eagles look to build momentum heading into the postseason, with a final road game scheduled against UConn on March 5. Fans are encouraged to show their support as Marquette aims to maintain their strong trajectory against Georgetown and finish the regular season on a high note.
