Marshall Warren Nhl Debut

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Marshall Warren, a native of Laurel Hollow, will make his NHL debut for the New York Islanders on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. This significant milestone follows his recent recall from the Bridgeport Islanders.

Warren drove for nearly two hours on Thursday, reflecting on his journey. “It was pretty emotional, it’s been a crazy journey,” he said. The 21-year-old recalled his childhood memories at Islanders Iceworks, where he participated in summer camps from ages six to 14.

Throughout his youth, Warren built relationships with players and rink staff. He said, “I had really good mentors along the way, a lot of good people from the organization are still here.” On Friday, he practiced with the Islanders, feeling the weight of the moment as he prepares for his first game.

During his training camp, Warren impressed coaches with his performance. Head Coach Patrick Roy remarked, “He was really good in training camp… it’s nice to see him getting rewarded.” In his second full season at Bridgeport, Warren scored five points in his first four games.

His call-up from Bridgeport came after a phone call notifying him of the opportunity. “My parents [and] my sister were pumped; it takes a village,” he shared, acknowledging their support throughout his journey.

The excitement was palpable during his practice with the Islanders. “It’s pretty special. It took a village for me to get here,” Warren said, underscoring the sacrifices made along the way.

During preseason, Warren scored a goal against the Flyers, showcasing his talent as he heads into his first NHL game. He joins fellow Long Island natives, like Chris Ferraro, in achieving this milestone.

Warren is eager for his moment on the ice. “It’ll be pretty surreal,” he admitted, reflecting on his long journey to get here. He is ready to let his inner child show as he takes his first lap before the game.
