Marshon Lattimore Trade Rumors Heat Up as NFL Deadline Approaches
With the NFL trade deadline looming on November 5, speculation surrounding New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore has intensified. Despite the Saints’ general manager Mickey Loomis and head coach Dennis Allen downplaying the idea of being sellers, the team’s current 2-6 record and distant playoff hopes have sparked interest in potentially trading their key assets.
Lattimore, a 28-year-old four-time Pro Bowl cornerback, has been dealing with a recurring hamstring injury, but his talent and contract through the 2026 season make him an attractive trade target. Several teams are reportedly in the mix for his services, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, and Detroit Lions.
The Kansas City Chiefs, aiming for a third consecutive Super Bowl win, have been in contact with the Saints about Lattimore. The Chiefs, who have already made significant trades this season, including acquiring DeAndre Hopkins and Josh Uche, see Lattimore as a potential upgrade to their secondary. With the loss of starting cornerback Jaylen Watson to a season-ending injury, Lattimore could pair well with Trent McDuffie to strengthen the Chiefs’ defense.
The Washington Commanders, currently 7-2 and leading the NFC East, are also keen on bolstering their cornerback position. General manager Adam Peters has been making calls to secure help, and Lattimore’s experience and skill set align well with the Commanders’ needs. The team has the financial resources and draft assets to make an enticing offer to the Saints.
The Baltimore Ravens, despite their 5-3 record, have struggled with passing defense and could benefit from Lattimore’s addition. Reuniting him with his former teammate Marcus Williams could enhance the Ravens’ secondary. However, the Ravens lack early-round draft picks but are expected to receive compensatory selections that could facilitate a trade.
The Detroit Lions, though less likely due to their strong 6-1 record and limited early-round draft picks, could still be in the running. Lattimore’s presence could complement their secondary and create more opportunities for their defensive line to pressure the quarterback.
The Minnesota Vikings, who have been active in trades this season, are also mentioned as potential suitors. Despite Lattimore’s recent performance not ranking him as a top-20 cornerback, his age and contract make him a viable long-term investment for the Vikings. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is reportedly open to another move before the deadline.
Lattimore’s health issues, including a hamstring injury that will keep him out of the Saints’ game against the Panthers, could impact his trade value. However, his proven track record and the Saints’ poor cap situation make him a prime candidate for a trade as the deadline approaches.
