Maurice Dubois Cbs Evening News

NEW YORK CITY, NY — Maurice DuBois, co-anchor of CBS Evening News, announced his departure from the network on Thursday. He will anchor his final broadcast on December 18, 2025. DuBois has been with CBS for over two decades, having previously anchored at WCBS, the network’s flagship station in New York City.

DuBois shared the news on Instagram, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to report the news. “It has been the Honor of a Lifetime to be welcomed into your homes night after night,” he wrote. He has served alongside John Dickerson, who announced his exit from the show in October.

Tom Cibrowski, CBS News president, praised DuBois in a statement, saying he has “long represented what we do best at CBS News and Stations.” He emphasized the significant role DuBois played in delivering important stories both from the studio and in the field.

DuBois’s departure comes amid a shakeup within CBS News as new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss recruits new anchor talent. Since the co-anchors began their roles earlier this year, CBS Evening News has struggled in the ratings, trailing behind rivals ABC World News and NBC Nightly News.

The average viewership for CBS Evening News was about 4.26 million viewers recently, significantly lower than the over 6 million for NBC and around 8.27 million for ABC. Despite attempts to revamp the format, the program has not gained traction in the competitive evening news landscape.

As DuBois exits, many are speculating about his potential return to local news or his next career move. No successors for DuBois or Dickerson have been announced yet, but CBS News plans to unveil the new anchors in January of 2026.
