Mavericks Schedule Private Workout for NBA Draft Prospect Cooper Flagg

Dallas, Texas — The Dallas Mavericks, holding the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, plan a private workout with projected top selection Cooper Flagg on June 17, sources told ESPN.
The Mavericks have expressed their intention to draft Flagg publicly and privately. They will not consider any other prospects for the No. 1 pick, which they surprisingly secured after entering the draft lottery with only a 1.8% chance of winning. Dallas jumped ten spots, marking one of the largest leaps in lottery history.
Flagg, a 6-foot-9 forward from Maine, has dominated college basketball since announcing he would graduate high school early and enroll at Duke as a 17-year-old. During his freshman season, he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, leading the Blue Devils to a 35-4 record and a Final Four appearance.
His performance earned him several prestigious awards, including the Naismith and Wooden Awards, given to the best player in college basketball. Flagg’s selection would signify a shift for the Mavericks, particularly after they traded a franchise cornerstone just four months prior, causing considerable unrest among fans.
In addition to drafting Flagg, the Mavericks are in discussions with All-Star guard Luka Dončić, who has a $43.9 million player option for the upcoming season. Flagg is not expected to conduct any additional visits, as both he and the Mavericks are aligned on his future in Dallas.
The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 25-26 at the Barclays Center in New York, where Flagg is poised to be one of the most anticipated picks.
