PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Newly acquired outfielder Max Kepler is fueling excitement for the Philadelphia Phillies‘ 2025 season, asserting that the team is eager and prepared to make a significant impact. With the season’s opener approaching, Kepler emphasized the squad’s determination, stating, “I think we’re just as hungry as any other year,” in remarks aired on 94WIP Radio.

Kepler, who joined the Phillies after a decade with the Minnesota Twins, reflects on the club’s challenging postseason experiences, notably the 2024 NLDS loss to the New York Mets. He believes the current roster is poised for improvement, saying, “We are trying to make the most with what we have here.” Despite his optimism, Kepler maintained an air of mystery regarding the team’s plans, adding, “I don’t want to give away too much.”

As the Phillies gear up for the season, Kepler’s past performance in Minnesota underscores his readiness. During his tenure with the Twins, he recorded consistent statistics, hitting over 50 runs each season and averaging .237 at the plate. For the upcoming season, projections from Baseball Reference suggest he could achieve 449 plate appearances, obtaining 99 hits, 14 home runs, and a .246 batting average.

Kepler’s one-year contract with the Phillies is worth $10 million, a significant transition from his previous five-year contract with the Twins valued at $35 million. He expressed confidence in his new team, emphasizing their shared ambition to overcome previous disappointments.

As the first game of the season nears, the organization is hopeful that Kepler’s leadership and performance will contribute to the Phillies’ goal of a successful campaign. His confidence may serve as a motivating factor for both teammates and fans alike.
