Max Muncy on Maintaining Intensity and Preparing for NLCS Against New York Mets
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy has emphasized the importance of maintaining intensity as the team transitions from the National League Division Series (NLDS) to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the New York Mets. Following an emotionally charged series against the San Diego Padres, Muncy highlighted the need for the Dodgers to avoid a letdown and keep their focus sharp.
Muncy discussed the team’s dynamics and the lessons learned from the NLDS. He noted that the clubhouse discovered a lot about each other’s resilience and determination during the intense series, which is crucial for the team’s success in the postseason. “You really learn who you are as a team and … there’s no quit, there’s no give up, there’s no letting down on anything,” Muncy said.
The Dodgers are preparing to face the Mets’ pitcher Kodai Senga in Game 1 of the NLCS. Muncy mentioned that while the team is aware of Senga’s capabilities, their strategy will focus on executing their own game plan. “We’re preparing for him like he’s a built-up starter,” Muncy explained, emphasizing the importance of preparation and execution.
In the first game of the NLCS, Muncy contributed significantly with a two-run single in the bottom of the 1st inning, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. This early momentum is crucial as the team aims to maintain their intensity throughout the series.
Muncy also addressed his comfort level at first base, a position he has played throughout his career. Despite not having faced a ball up the line recently, he expressed his comfort and readiness to perform at the position.
